You have been selling your entire life. You just did not call it that. In this debut episode, Tara breaks down why the doctor giving health advice, the parent negotiating bedtime, and the job interview candidate are all doing the same thing — selling. Welcome to Everything's Sales, the podcast that will change how you see every conversation.
Hey, hey, hey. Welcome to Everything Sales, the podcast that's going to change the way you see every single conversation you have every single day. I'm Tara, and I am here to tell you something that's either going to annoy you or set you completely free. And honestly, it might do both. Here's the truth: you are always selling. Always. Right now, if you're trying to convince your brain to keep listening to this podcast instead of switching back to your playlist, that is a sell. You are selling yourself on the value of your time. And you have been doing this your entire life. You just didn't call it that. Let me paint you a picture. You're sitting in the doctor's office. Your doctor walks in, tells you that you need to change your diet, get more sleep, and maybe just maybe cut back on the margaritas. And you're sitting there nodding like, yes, yes, of course, doctor. Absolutely. What did she just do? She sold you a health plan. She didn't call it sales, she called it medical advice. But she used credibility, urgency, and your very real fear of a bad outcome to get you to commit to a behavior change. That is sales. Or how about this one? You're a parent, it is 9 p.m. You are completely done. Your kid is bouncing off the walls, and you are standing there saying things like, if you go to bed right now, I will let you have extra iPad time tomorrow. That is an incentive offer. That is a closing technique. You are literally using future value to secure a commitment tonight. You are a salesperson with a sippy cup, and here is my personal favorite the job interview. You walk in polished, prepared, stories ready to go. You're thinking, I hope they like me, I hope I get this job, but here's what nobody tells you. They are also selling. They are showcasing the culture, the benefits, the growth path because top candidates have options and the company knows it. Every job interview is a two-way pitch. So here is the convo control truth bomb of the day. Sales is not a department, it is a human skill. And the people who recognize that, the ones who understand that communication is influence and influence is sales, those are the people who get more yeses in life. More yeses at work, more yeses in their relationships, more yeses in the boardroom and yes in the bedroom too. I said what I said. I am not telling you to go manipulate people. I'm telling you to get conscious, get intentional. Because right now, you are selling whether you want to be or not. The only question is, are you doing it well? That is what this podcast is about. Every episode, we are going to break down a piece of the conversation control system that I have spent years building, testing, and yes, selling. We are going to make you better, not just at business, at life, because everything is sales. And now you know it. I'm Tara. I'll see you next episode.
